The Ahnenerbe advertised itself as an archaeological institute, specializing in racial heritage. In reality it was a tool of the Nazi state, promulgating their ideology and world view, manipulating history and science to display a Nazi world.
The Nazis were keen to replace established history, science, and religion with their own ideas, free from the influence of Semites, which justified their ethnic cleansing. Under the Nazis knowledge became weaponized and dangerous. Yet, today the Ahnenerbe is remembered as cartoon villains, the enemy of Indiana Jones and Nathan Drake.
